Bakandamiya Translation Bureau
(BTB)
About the Project
The goal of Bakandamiya Translation Bureau is to expand access to knowledge by translating books and other educational resources into Hausa, one of Africa’s most widely spoken languages, with more than 200 million speakers worldwide. By making valuable knowledge available in Hausa, the bureau aims to reduce language barriers, promote literacy and support learning, creativity and intellectual development in Africa.
Project Initiatives
Gasar Rubutun Makala
Gasar Rubutun Makala (GRM) is a writing competition prize established to engineer the generation and documentation of well-researched scientific and historical contents in the Hausa language. The contents are usually published on Bakandamiya Encyclopaedia, another initiative of the Bakandamiya Organisation. GRM started in January 2026 and it is still ongoing. It comes on the 15th of every month.
